Cold engine, bad start

Having temps around and below freezing, I noticed that my engine quits running below 1100 and has a bit of a rough idle. Even above freezing the engine ran not right. After flying I checked the idele mixture setting. Go to 600 RPM and slowly pull the mixture all the way out, monitoring RPM. The engine just maintained 600 and quit. Esetart with same setting 600 RPM and the pulled carb heat. Ther was a increase of 10 RPM, due to the richer mixture. I opened the idle mixture screw on the backsibe of the carb , which is very good acessible with the mixture in Rich, and opened it 1/2 turn. Restarted the engine, Idle was smooth now and the RPM raised form 600 to 620 when puling the mixture. Pulling the carb heat resulted in a RPM drop.
The day after, the cold engine started well and idled fine at 800.
Please check your idle mixtures.
