Does MT have any repair facilities other than the MT facility in Deland, Fl? My prop has a leak and it's getting worse. Now I am up in Oregon. Thanks....

MT prop repair

I was in the DeLand facility yesterday and recieved the full tour. Today back in South Dakota. Good people and nice work at this facility. It is the only repair facility I am aware of but a call to Larry would let you know.

MT Deland

I agree. I've had very good service from MT's Florida facility. My MTV15 was bubbling and they repaired it under warranty. They also took care of a cosmetic problem I had with the chrome-look carbon fiber spinner. Crating up the prop and shipping it down there is a pain, but it's worth doing.

What cosmetic problem did you have with the spinner? My "chrome look" composite spinner has several small discolored areas near the aft edge. Just haven't decided to do anything about it yet.

Spinner/cosmetic

The shiny day-glo coating on the chrome MT spinner scratches easily, and mine had a weird pattern of dull patches that were impossible to buff out. I was advised to sand it, paint it and forget about it, and in the end traded it for a loaner spinner the MT guys in Florida had. They painted it gloss white for me; it looks great and I'm very happy with it.

I understand (okay, I'm guessing) that the shiney chrome look is actually vacuum deposited aluminum vapor that is then clearcoated. One has to treat this with kid gloves in terms of cleaning it. I use the same care I use on the Plexiglas (i.e. only clean microfiber towels, flush first with water whenever possible etc).

I can understand how it wouldn't buff out, but don't know how the scratches got there.

Being as I paid $400 extra for the chrome look spinner (yeah, theres one born in Kenya every minute - - or something like that - - can't remember how that saying goes ;c). Anyway, I'd be miffed if they told me to just paint it over!

While your at it, might as well chrome plate the gear leg and tail spring!

Just kidding..
