MT Propellors

Hello everybody,

I was just wondering where those of you that have MT propellors bought them. I am not quite ready to pull the trigger, but I am shopping.

Also, I was talking to a gentleman that had a "light weight" battery installed in his Husky, does anybody else have one? If so, what battery is it?

Thanks for any information, I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Light Battery

Trace you can either use the Hawker SBS-16 or the Odysseyofthe same size.

I have the MTV-15 prototyp on my Snowbird and moved Hawker battey under the front floorboards.

The job took a bit longer than expected, the relays/ masterswitch circuit braker need tobe moved as well.

But only bolting down the Hawker SBS16 in the rear is easy.

Thomas,

Looks like there is a about a 10 lb difference between the RG-25 and the Hawker SBS-J16. And the Hawker is less expensive than the Concorde?!?! Have you seen any starting performance differences?

Flight Resource in WI is distributor I bought from (www.flight-resource.com). I believe John Schlesinger is the fellow you'd want to speak with.

I bought Hawker SBS-J16 from www.batterymart.com, $167

Its impossible to overstate the benefits of the MT prop -- just a radical improvement over the Hartzell. That and Thomas's SGS kit are the two best things you can do to the airplane. (I'd put Bushwheels in another category).

Chris,

Thanks for the info, I will give John a call. That is about the same price I found for the Hawker battery.

Thanks again for the help!

MT Prop and battery

Trace,

The Schlasinger guy's name is Larry. Give him a call, he's a stand up guy. Tell him I sent you...:).

The Hawker battery cranks far harder than any of the conventional batteries I've used. I've run them in a couple Huskys and a Cessna. They crank hard, but don't have as much reserve, so you just need to get it started in a reasonable period of cranking, but not bad at all.

I always joked that with a Hawker battery and a Sky Tec starter, you can taxi on the starter alone.

I agree Mike,

I put a "lightweight" SkyTec starter on my 172 after the original became suicidal and I also think you could taxi on the starter! I bet you extend your glide significantly with the SkyTec!:)

Does anyone have any experience with the B&C starter? Their oil filter adapter is a piece of artwork! Can't imagine what their starter would be like.

I talked to Larry last week, Flight Resource has the only STC for the Husky I was told. So, I guess my shopping is over before it got started. I will give them a call when its time.

Thanks again folks for the great info!

No, I don't have any experience with B & C's starter, but Bill Bainbridge (owner) is a personal friend and really a good guy. He's one of those business people that puts the customer first. If he sells it, it's good. If there's a problem, he'll make it good.

I agree with you Bumper, I talked to Bill on the phone when I ordered my filter adapter, he seemed like a great guy that was genuinely interested in my satisfaction with his product.

From what I have read B&C's starters and alternators are top shelf.
