Roberto,

good luck.

I just uninstalles a Vac sastem and replaced it by an EFIS. Much lighter and reliable.

The filter is any where under the panel . Watch the mounting bolt that goes though the firewall not tobe in a plave where it chafed someoilline forward of the firewall.

Regulator normally top of the LH Firewall side.

You need a lot of 45° fittings that go on th DG and the Horizont.

Hi Roberto,
My mechanic says he has a copy of the factory installation drawings for the vacuum system. He'd be happy to scan them and e-mail them to you, but I'll need your e-mail address. (You can either reply to this or send it as a private message.)

Hi Roberto,
I just left your e-mail address on my mechanic's desk. He probably won't get the drawings scanned + e-mailed to you until Monday, but you never know!
Cheers

Thomas and Mike,

I was thinking on installing the Aspen Avionics before I made the decision on the Vacuum System, but I call the Aspen people and they told me Aviat was supposed to make a change on the panel to fit the Aspen. I look with the local dealer here and took some measurements and the bottom of the instrument was like only 1/2" from the stick in the FWD left position. I think this is not a problem ( you never push the stick all the way to the left, but it was not legal in the US, and if I want to sell my Husky later on in the US it would be a problem.

Tom it would nice if you can send a picture of your panel, I hope I don't get upset because I didn't install it!

By the way I have in my Husky a Blue Mountain and it works more or less, but the Horizon it is not reliable ( I don't trust it, that's the reason I am installing the Vacuum Instruments).

Saludos

Roberto,
Check out the Kelly Instruments RCA 2600 all digital horizon. Its TSO'd for certified aircraft and would be a lot less weight and trouble than a vacuum system and a lot more reliable. It is a stand alone instrument that only needs electric input. I have a vacuum system but dont really trust it. I plan on installing an RCA 2600 soon.

Thomas,
I thought the Aspen was able to replace instruments already installed? Has this changed? Or is this just a USA FAA thing?

Mike,

I had two empty holes in the panel. My Husky is VFR equipped & certified. I did not replace a Vac System.

But you may uninstall the Vac System, sign the airplane off to be legal, then install an Aspen.

The Horizon works fine in the Aspen, Compass calibration is a bit time consuming, but onece done it works nice .

Aspen is not yet FAA STCd.

Just got an RCA 2600 digital horizon. The face has squared off corners instead of rounded ones so it wont fit in my panel. The square corners interfere with the vibration mounts. I was able to return the instrument to Kelly Instruments (great place) for a refund. The factory is in the process of re-designing the RCA 2600 with rounded corners since several other customers had the same problem I did. They are hoping to have the new unit out in 60-90 days.
