A Sign of the Times (flying times that is)

On Monday, I took an employee's two nephews for rides in the Husky. The boys are 7 and 9 years old. The seven year old went first and was expectantly impressed. The 9 year old however, was able to sum up the experience, give me an abrupt reminder of how old I am and probably provide a clue for all of us as to one of the major problems getting new recreational pilots interested in the future.

At 750' AGL on climb out, his first words were: "Hey cool, it looks just like Google Earth!"

That's eye-opening, sad and true. Today's kids are almost jaded, so much so from their virtual reality experiences that they don't enjoy reality.

What do you mean there's no reset button in real life?

Good to see you getting our new pilots a ride, we need more people like you Tim to keep things going. Good on you for taking the time to give back.

Tim,
That was a great video, you need to practice the recognition awards ceremony:D left hand right hand... :) :) :)

Great job, Aviation needs more guys like you to keep our pilots wanting to become Captain Clifford!!!

thanks, it's grown on me too, though I was lukewarm about it at first.

photos seem to come through nicely on the site.

I'll try posting another as attachment-- my 16 year old daughter's one and only Husky experience this winter...
