A Soon to be Famous Husky!

Until today, I have been sworn to secrecy but am now allowed to announce that the Husky that was used in our RAF Sun 'n Fun display this spring and that was much misused by the storms, will be the 2012 AOPA Sweepstakes Giveaway - dubbed the Tougher Than A Tornado Husky.

The RAF helped broker the deal between Aviat and AOPA at the show, facilitated the delivery and then arranged for a photo / video shoot and tour of the backcountry in Montana once the Husky had received repairs at Aviat.

Throughout the coming sweepstake year, AOPA will rely on the RAF to assist in demonstrating how a backcountry airplane can and should be used for recreation around the country. What that means for the RAF is very high visibility within the aviation community, the potential for many new RAF supporters and the further expansion of the RAF mission which is to preserve, protect and create recreational airstrips - the ones we all love to use.

The real benefit to all of us Husky owners will be conclusive evidence as to just how smart we all are for already having purchased a Husky.

It goes to follow that the increased exposure for Aviat can mean additional sales which translates into development of more improvements and better parts availability etc.

Here's a link to the first AOPA article: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/aopa/turbinepilot_201109/index.php#/106 select Preview to read the article. Be sure to click on the video link in the upper left corner of the first page as well. We've obviously made a backcountry convert out of Dave Hirshman!

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support, this announcement caps a very productive couple of weeks for the RAF. Check out the web site: www.theraf.org to learn about a major lawsuit win and probable rescue of the Chicken Strip in Death Valley.

Also please vote for the RAF in the Lightspeed Foundation contest. That link is on the our website as well.

N40WY "Tougher than a Tornado" Husky A-1C will soon be relocated to Caldwell, ID (KEUL) for its new owner. A website has been developed to preserve the documented history of this now very famous Husky, and chronicle its future exploits. Feel free to visit the site to keep up on the Tornado Husky.

Many thanks to Dave Hirschman at AOPA and Tim Clifford for all of their support.
