When your butt goes up your knees come down improving the clearance under the panel. You can try this simply by lifting up and holding your self against the seat back. This is how I've used a relief bottle for years, best day of my life when... I finally figured it out.

Let me know how the shoes work for you.

Kerry, I tried "zero heel" shoes, which are similar to driving shoes you recommended with very low heels/soles, and they made all the difference. My knee no longer hits the prop and mixture and my feet can actually feel the contours of the rudder pedals. Flying the Husky from Scottsdale to Duluth over the weekend, my feet never ached after 13 hours of flying. Highly recommend these shoe options for any one with long legs or if you are looking for a better feel to the rudder pedals.

My seat wedge is 2" at the rear, you have to play with it. Very happy the shoes worked out for you!
