Lakes patrol yesterday. Gull is over half open with lots of Bufflehead duck rafts coming through.






There was a 22 degree halo.


The Eagles were taking the Buffleheads out. I didn't use the best fast action camera, so didn't get many pics. But in this one you can see an Eagle in a hard bank making a gun run on the Buffleheads.

I sure love flying. It’s one of the few things that make 100% focus easy for me. The rest of life completely stays on the ground.

Beginning to think Gull might not freeze over this year! Or if it does, it'll be incredibly short lived given the forecast. My guess is at least one guide I know will get a boat out in January for Walleyes...

Checked on it this afternoon. Lots of fat eagles feasting on buffleheads.

Still a few spots open today on Gull and North Long Lake.

Last run in January. 37 deg and hazy. Trucks and ice roads out on North Long lake (371 Bay) so landed there. Very little activity anywhere else due to the sketchy ice conditions this year.

Very few people on the ice this winter of '24, very weird not to see vehicles and ice houses! But ice/snow skim was perfect for donuts in the grass.
