To the Backcountry Gang:

As most of you know, our backcountry trips into Idaho over the past several years inspired a film we shot last fall with Harrison Ford and Holding Pictures in LA. It premiered at our Spreading Wings Gala in November. It has received rave reviews from some very discriminating audiences, including the Legends of Aviation banquet at the Beverly Hilton in January. For the time being, we are not distributing DVDs, choosing instead to limit showings to a theater we are building inside a new museum entrance complex and for some very special occasions.

A very special occasion is coming up for the film on May 8th, and I wanted to invite you to join us if you can. Wings Over the Rockies and the Lindbergh Foundation are co-hosting an event on May 8th to be called "Wings for Our World." We will be advancing mutual goals to advance awareness and technology to sustain the balance between aviation, energy, wildlife and the environment. Former NASA Administrator and Director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Admiral Richard Truly, is Honorary Chairman.

A daylong expo will feature educational information and activities provided by organizations such as NREL, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and others. Young Eagles flights will take kids up for an environmental awareness experience. The Lindbergh Foundation will showcase its Kenyan Wildlife Management Program, which trains native pilots in donated aircraft to manage wildlife and control poaching. Wings Over the Rockies will display its "Green Flight Project," a leading effort in Colorado to develop a hybrid energy aircraft conversion with electric (battery) power, thin film solar wing panels and vortex-powered generators which will fly later this year.

That evening will feature a dinner and program to include our new film. Admiral Truly will also emcee a panel discussion on leading edge aviation programs which sustain a responsible balance with energy, wildlife and the environment. Projects from new de-icing fluids to wind farm propeller designs are likely discussion topics.

This is the first-of-its-kind event ever held. If any of you care to join us at "Wings for Our World," let me know and we'll be happy to be on the lookout for you. A flyer with information follow below.

P.S. The film credits close with "Special thanks to the Backcountry Gang"!
